Coin Slot Magazine - #015 - 1976 - January [International Arcade Museum]
1. Time consuming
2. Requires expensive equipment and expertise in welding.
3. Requires expensive milling machinery or access to same.
4. Requires re heat treating
C. Installing miniature rivets with heads of various thickness to top and bottom
of slides to build up required amount.
This 3rd. method is the one ivfed developed and without exception, it has
proved satisfactory in all cases. It is simple and requires only a minimum of
shop experience and equipment.
When actuating, the Pay Slides move fwd. slightly more than the diam. of
the coin, so when the rivets are installed, it is necessary to locate them so that
full runner contact is made throught the slide travel.
I locate the fwd. traveling rivets (the ones toward the REAR of the mech.)
on TOP of the slide, and the Rear rivets on the BOTTOM of the next slide up,
You*l find some Mills slides with this pattern accomplished by drop forging to
raise the surface slightly. This was only used on the steel slides and was not
adaptable to the bronze ones. Example below is made with full scale drawings of
the Mills 10$ slide.

Either slide, when actuating, will travel approx. 7/8", thus the rivets are
located so that there is adequare edge distance when the slide stops. Dim's,
will vary with coin denomination. Holes are drilled slightly oversize to the
rivet diam. and slightly longer than the length (Can be cut shorter but this
distorts end and requires filing) I use a drill press with a stop feature but a
hand drill or an elect, drill will also work.
