NEW YORK - Industry congratulations
were recently extended to Robert Z. Greene
and his bride, Nancy Jane Greif, of Balti-
more and Miami. They were married at
Clark's Desert Inn in Las Vegas, Nev.
Congratulations poured in from all sec-
tors of the trade when the announcement
was made. Greene has long been prominent
in the trade as president of Rowe Manu-
facturing Co. and also an outstanding
leader in associational activities.
Turf King Takes
Post at Laymons
LOS ANGELES-The favorite to win at
Paul A. Laymons' currently is the new
Bally Turf King which has the sales force
doing nip-ups explaining the many new
features on this new one or five-ball pin-
ball game which incorporates all of the
time-tested features of Citation and Cham-
pion and adds an equal number of its own.
Speaking of the game Paul Laymon said
-" This is THE one. It has Citation and
Champion backec;l off the map and you'll
remember they were and are topnotch
games. But Turf Champ is presented to the
pinball public in a new and fascinating
way and fans love it."
Another new item is a Downey-Johnson
Sorter and Counter which sorts and counts
all coins from a penny to half-a-dollar. One
dial reading gives total in dollars and cents.
Laymon also stocks the Downey-Johnson
coin wrapper which rounds out an excellen t
line of coin handling equipment for today's
operator_
Huge Silver King Order
in Eastern States Expansion
CHICAGO-Edward Barnett of Cameo
Vending Service, New York, placed the
largest order for Silver King bulk vendors
in the history of the machine according to
an announcement by H. F. Burt of the
Silver King Corp.
Delivery is to be made .over a three year
period during which strategic branch sales
{)ffices will be opened to thoroughly cover
New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
First branch has already been opened in
White Plains. Silver Kin g vendors will be
handled exclusively and Barnett revealed
he selected the vendor because "of its
rugged simplici ty, its popular sales appeal
and its performance record."
Bally Oilers Turf J{ing
With Improved Controls
CHICAGO-Bally Manufacturing Co. re-
-c ently announced a jumbo type of pin
ball game called Turf King. Jack Nelson,
general sales manager, said there are many
new mechanical advances in the game.
He emphasized its improved control unit
with longer lasting contact wipers, its new
style clutch with ample take-up provision,
its improved relays of horizontal type for
-easy access, and its faster action reflex
unit.
Nelson also pointed out that the play-
field is brightly illuminated by five lights
running through the center of the field
from top to bottom. In addition, glass frame
lock is convenientlY located on th e side
.of the back box.
Mencuri Named
Exhibit Sales Head
CHICAGO-Frank Mencuri has been ap-
pointed sales manager of the amusement
games line of the Exhibit Supply Co., suc-
ceeding Charles J. Pieri. Mencuri also re-
tains the sales manager post on Exhibit's
arcade division.

In making the announcement, Ford Se-

Mencuri's promotion is the most important
in a series of company moves to expedite
service and improve relations with distribu-
tors and operators.
Mencuri has been a sales executive for
16 years. He joined Exhibit Feb. 1, 1946,
as assistant sales manager under John
Chrest. Shortly after he was named assist-
ant to Perc Smith, head of the arcade
division. When Smith died in June, 1948,
he was placed in charge of arcade sales.
During the war, Mencuri was an inspector
of precision instruments made by Minne-
apolis-Honeywell Co. for the armed forces.
