"Mini-Pool" Proving
Big Money-Maker
SAN DIEGO, Calif.- On test location
since March, Mini-Pool, a fascinating new
coin-operated game, is proving a big
money-maker with practically no operating
cost. Some locations in this area have aver-
aged over $100 in weekly grosses, Sales
Manager Dave Snyder reports.
E. P. Baker, general manager of Mini-
Pool Co., announces that production is now
under way in one of San Diego's outstand-
ing plants.
"Mini-Pool is the game operators have
been needing to boost their location
grosses," Snyder told THE REVIEW. " Not
only does it have tremendous play appeal,
but it requires only 3 by 6 feet of floor
space and can fit in any corner because
all play is from the front end of the game.
The mechanism has been proved trouble-
free, and inasmuch as no electricity is
needed, it can be placed anywhere in a lo-
cation without concern over electrical out-
lets."
Mini-Pool is beautifully finished in wal-
nu t, mahogany and blonde, and a super-
glazed fini sh has been applied. Legs are of
highly polished metal.

June 26-28 Chosen
for 1950 Show
CHICAGO-The 1950 CMI coin machin e
show will be held at the Stevens Hotel
June 26, 27 and 28th, it has been an-
nounced by Harry Williams, president of
Coin Machine Institute.
Summer date was selected after more
than 10,000 coinmen expressed their prefer-
ence in a recent poll. The 1950 show will
be devoted only to music, vending and ser-
vi ce machines and amusement games. This
means that manufacturers of certain types
of machines and games will not be quali-
fied to exhibit as in the past.
Laymon Says 1949 Critical
Year in Machine Selection
LOS ANGELES-"lf nothing more can
be said to the credit of 1949 when the year
is over, it must be admitted. that it was
the year in which operators picked only
machines that represented sound values."
So declared Paul A. Laymon, local distribu-
tor, before entraining for a visit to the coin
machine ca pi tol in Chicago on May 17th.
"Only machines that have definite player
appeal, assure consistent earnings, and are
priced properly are the machines whi ch are
being sold in any quantity today. Take, for
example, Bally's Citation. We've had an
exceptionally fine sale on the game for it
met every one of today's exacting demands.
"Same holds true of Quizzer and Re-
cordio. The .new 1949 Quizzer is priced
right, has plenty of flash and appeal, gives
a variety of questions to maintain interest
in any one location, and can be rejuvenated
when necessary by the installation of a new
6,000-question reel. Operators have made
important tests on Quizzer in vari'ous types
of spots and th e machin e comes through
one hundred per cent.
"On Recordio the same holds true. A new
low pri ce has been established on the unit
which makes it a still more desirable ma-
chine for the opera tor. All in all, it's a
machine t~at will keep on earning for years
and years.

"Moderne" Custom -Made
Shuffleboard Rates High
LOS ANGELES-"Am erica's Most Beau-
tiful Shuffieboard" is the reputation being
achieved by Pacific Shuffieboard's famous
Moderne deluxe custom-made board.
" Operators have a choice of red, brown,
r.reen, cream, or blue in any combination
for both legs and ends," says R. E. Smith,
head of the firm. "This enables the oper-
ator to buy a custom -made board especially
suited to the color scheme of any location
at no additional cost."
Mod erne has a multi-processed, eye-ar-
resting green masonite play field. The
board is sturdily built so as not to warp
or twist out of shape.
"The Moderne is an ultra-modern board,
unequalled for durability and smoothness,
yet costs no more than th e ordinary shuffi e-
board," Smith added.
