SEATTLE- After a long, careful period
of torture testing in the toughest locations
possible, the new Coin·O·Matic mechanical
changer made its debut this month, with
coinmen throughout the nation . greeting
with enthusiasm its beauty, simplicity, rug·
gedness, and adaptability to all phases of
the coin business. .
Corley M. Phelps, president of the Coin-
O-Ma'tic Cashier Co., Inc., was optimistic
regarding the future after a trip East re-
cently to make distributor and manufactur·
ing contacts.
"We now have distributor coverage for
approximately 60 per cent of the United
States," Phelps said. "Distributors have
been given exclusives, and we are gratified
by their sincere enthusiasm."
Arthur EIchholz, veteran coin machine
manufacturer, is producing the machine at
the Central Stamping & Mfg. Co., Chicago.
The Coin·O·Matic, housed in a gleaming
cast aluminum case, changes quarters and
dimes to nickels. The simple working mech-
anism is built of stainless steel and has been
proved fool·proof and cheat-proof." It holds
$50 in nickels, and maintenance has been
practically eliminated, according to Phelps.
"We wanted to be sure it was right be·
fore releasing it to the trade," Phelps said,
"and now we are confident it is ready to go
out and do a bang-up job getting those quar-
ters and dimes, and consequent profit boosts
for all coinmen without fuss or trouble."
The Coin·O·Matic will be on display at
the show.

forces and the merch ant marin e are tax-
free, the state's four· cent·a·pack levy on
smokes di stributed to war veterans in
Florida hospitals must be paid, Attorney
General Tom Watson recently ruled.

CHICAGO- Fewer hotel fires and more
smoking in bed has been assured through
an invention by Roy Weisbaum. Convinced
that people will continue to smoke under
covers no matter what curbing measures are
taken, he has invented a fire-proofing solu-
tion fo r bed clothes.

LONDON - Philumenists in Britain
charge that prices of match box covers are
out of reason and protest the forging of
labels by unscrupulous gentry.
