The new Jacobs bottled drink vendor
(made for Coca-Cola) shows a little differ-
ent design than other Coke vendors, in the
l"Ounded top of the cabinet. This rounded
top effectively houses the revolving drum
that carries the load. Dispensing depends
on gravity. Jacobs has a device which
makes it easier for service man to load the
vendors. F. L. Jacobs Co. is also in the
coin washer business and is mentioned as
"among the Big Three."
"Manhattan" Hits Its Stride
LOS ANGELES-"Packard's Manhattan
phonograph is hitting its stride," says Jack
Gu tshall, "and operators are getting plenty
of first-hand proof that this luxurious pho-
nograph can easily double their operating
profits.
"One of the most significant trends that
the Manhattan has started is an industry-
wide revision of location commissions,"
Gutshall adds. "It's pretty hard to get a
location to agree to lower commission when
the same old phonograph remains on the
spot. But when an operator comes in with
a great machine like the Manhattan, the
location has no choice but to accept a
lower commission."
"filben Is Answer to
Price Problems"-Baskfield
SAN FRANCISCO - "Operators are
acutely sensitive to today's price structure
and are findin/! the answer to their prob-
lems in the Filben Mirro-cle cabinet and
the Stow-A-Way hideaway," states Leonard
Baskfield, vice-president of E. T. Mape Dis-
tributing Co. "In addition, the new deco-
rative design of the cabinet blends in with
any type location."
While California is the birthplace of
mirrored music, Baskfield notes that the
trend is catching hold in the east by leaps
and bounds. "Filben recognized the tre-
mendous potentialities of this vast new
market and is the first national manufac-
turer to bring out a mirror-type cabinet."
Baskfield announced that the Filben
speaker line has arrived (two types) and
that the firm will shortly ship 20 and 24
selector cabinets for other types of equip-
ment.
