during the holiday week.
Jack Gutshall is offering his fourth nude
calendar and we believe this year's offering
is equal, if not better, than the girl on the
robe which proved so popular a year or so
ago. This year's subject is modeled along-
side a pool. Veddy, veddy, lovely.
Clarence Adelberg of Stoner Corp., Auro-
ra, Ill., arrived on the Coast on December
2nd for a two-week business and pleasure
trip. The Stoner plant has been tied up with
war contracts since Pearl Harbor but

BALBOA, Calif.-John F. Vogel, owner
of the Balboa Point Hotel and a Penny
Arcade, can't stomach the OPA rent con-
trol on his hotel and on November 21st
posted a notice to all tenants that "the
owner of this hotel, being no magician,
finds himself unable to operate within OPA
rules and regulations and therefore will not
accept any rents or donations. Should you
believe your quarters worth anything, you
may donate said sum to the Balboa USO
fund . The owner of this building owns and
operates the Penny Arcade at the corner
of Balboa Pier and has other means of
support."
Hotel, located on Beach Front and held
to be the most exclusive hotel in this beach
city, is 100 per cent occupied by military
men. A second sign in the lobby reads:
"No dogs or civilians allowed."
Vogel, incidentally, is an OP A War Ra-
tioning Board member.
