stores, W. & J. Sloane recently contributed
window space to the National War Fund.
It proved to be a crowd stopper as is evi·
denced by the picture above.
Prominent in the scene was a new Mod·
ernized Wurlitzer Automati c Phonograph
provided by Wurlitzer's metropolitan New
York distributors, the Man hattan Simplex
Distributing Co.
Simulated set·up of a U.S.O. recreation
center, it did a neat job of colorful adver·
tising for this Service Organization, not to
men tion Wurlitzer and Coca Cola, too.

Paul L. Gerber. well known and re-
spected member of the Coin Machine
Industry. died suddenly at his winter
home in Los Angeles on February 2nd.
Funeral services were held from Gro·
man's Mortuary in Los Angeles on Feb-
ruary 6th. Surviving are his wife. Sadie
Gerber: Pvt. Sherwood Gerber. a son:
Mrs. Beckie Gerber, his mother: Elaine
Lois. granddaughter: and three sisters
and two brothers.
Gerber had been a prominent indi-
vidual in the Industry for the past 17
years and in the last few years was
associated with Max Glass in the firm
of Gerber and Glass Distributing Co. in
Chicago. Together they distributed. on
an exclusive basis. and caused to be
manufactured exclusively for them.
some of the big winners in the marble
table field of yesteryear.
Gerber was very interested in base·
ball and made the Spring Training
jaunt to Catalina each year with the
Wrigley team under a special pass be·
stowed upon him years ago by Phil
Wrigley. He never missed an opportun-
ity to talk sports.
Paul made a name for himself in the
Industry and he will not be quickly for-
gotten.
