down. Liberty, however- th e freedom of a
free agency sta tus- does not mean license.
We canno t, intentionally or even careless-
ly, injure ano ther a nd escape the responsi-
bility for our action.
Bias, prejudice, arrogance, selfishness,
and all of their kindred negative tenden-
cies, are as so many ston es tied around th e
neck of an operator today. Rid yourself of
these hindrances that are holding you back
and make sure that every member of your
organization is free from th em, too.
The ability to get along with people is
one of the finest virtues any operator can
cultiva te. And, to be successful in this or
any other business, an operator must pos-
sess that ability.
When the war is over and hundreds of
thousands of our boys return to civilian
life, the Coin Machine Industry will expe-
rience the greatest period of prosperity and
expansion that it has ever known. Scores
of new types of coin-operated devices will
mak e their appearance and bring with them
hundreds of new operators. These men will
not enter this business expecting to rout
the operators already in th e field. Instead,
they will merely want to become part of
us and will ask only the humane consid er-
ation that th ey in turn will ex pect to offer.
It is hi gh time for th e operators in th e
field to "put their house in order" and get
ready for th e • adjustin g days certain to
co me with the return of normalcy through-
out the world.
