LOS ANGELES-Ernie Brennan, mana-
ger of the San FranCisco office of General
Music Co_, spent the first week of March
in Los Angeles endeavoring to arrange for
speeding shipments to his waiting custom-
ers in the bay area_
Ernie reported business exceptionally
good in the northern part of the state and
said that the army, navy and defense ac-
tivity in the bay area especially has been re-
sponsible for a tremendous up-spurt ih busi-
ness in generaL As a ' result the operators
have benefited accordingly_
"!t's not a sales problem any more,"
declared Ernie, "it's the problem of get-
ting the equipment you need to fi ll the
orders we have when the customer wants
them_ Our Los Angeles office has done a
noteworthy job in stocking up on a heavy
stock of used equipment and my Southern
visit was to select the pieces I need, and
anticipate I will need, and get them home
for my boys as quickly as possible_"

CHICAGO-Recently the Rock-Ola Ad-
vertising Department mailed to the Factory
Distributors a photograph of Vice President
Jack Nelson, taken at the Bowling Alley
where Rock-Ola's 100 man league meets
every Wednesday night_
Most of the Distributors tacked the pic-
ture up on their bulletin board-and Nel-
son began to gather a reputation as a
bowler, which just had to be backed up
with some real action in the scoring col-
umns_
"I just had to make good," said Jack
Nelson, after romping off with high honors
and the best score he had ever chalked up
in Rock-Ola Mfg_ Corporation Bowling
Tournament Wednesday, March 3rd_
Nelson's score totaled 565, with games 6f
191, 214 and 160-an average of 188.

CHICAGO-As one enters the Permo
Products Corporation plant today the first
thing that greets the eye is an impressive
Honor Roll placque containing the names
of former Permo employees who are now
serving Uncle Sam on widely scattered bat-
tle fronts. Forty-eight in all have answered
the call from Permo and this figure repre-
sents about 30% of all of the male em-
ployees in Permo's plant. at the time of the
attack on Pearl Harbor.
