Sales Co., has just moved to new and
larger quarters a~ 131·133 North Fifth
Street, this city, where he is now able to
give much better service and attention to
the needs of the firm's many, many custom·
ers throughout the country.
Lew has risen steadily since starting his
Leader Sales in this city. More and more
operators believe that his firm is the leader
in the field when it comes to reconditioned
equipment of every type. The firm has
hundreds of testimonial letters, everyone
entirely unsolicited, where operators, job-
bers and distributors throughout the coun·
try pronounce the equipment received from
Leader not only a "True-Value" buy, but
definitely the finest mechanically and in
external appearance.
As Lew reports, "We need these larger
quarters. We have been working day and
night to fill orders of the trade. We make
it our business to guarantee every single
machine we ship re.g ardless of price. The
only way we can do this is to rebuild
each game so that it will meet with the
complete approval of the man who receives
it.

completely equipped with lathe, drill press
and other machinery is now even turning
out parts for the machines themselves.

CHICAGO-One of the busiest spots in
Chicago is the Chicago Novelty Co., Inc.,
where the Shoot the Jap Ray-O-Lite con-
versions are being made and shipped to
operators in all parts of the country.
One of the pioneers in the field, Chicago
Novelty is doing a magnificent job of con-
verting Chicken Sams to the popular Jap
game.
"Our job is not a quick changeover,"
declared Sam Winsberg. "We strip .the ma-
chine completely and everything is checked
and worked on. We put on a very clean
paint job, and the machine, fully recon-
ditioned, is practically as good as new.
"The amplifier, main and gun cables,
trigger assembly, gun lamps and chambers
are in perfect working condiiton, and at
present we find it necessary to strip about
15 machines to keep those that are going
out supplied with necessary parts.
"A 'Shoot The Jap' card is placed in
front of the target. Another smaller card,
8' x 8', reading '20 Shots 5c,' is tacked on
the .g un stand. We use the same wooden
Seeburg doll and hand paint in over to a
Jap soldier. Competent artists do the paint-
ing of the fi gure and the war scene.
"Shooting devices that are bringing up
to $185.00 in the used market can't equal
returns on the Jap machine," Winsberg
added. "Everybody is 'Jap' conscious and
collections will top any shooting device
placed in taverns. That is why we are sdl-
ing and shipping so many complete conver-
sion jobs at the present time."

Kaplan's Diamond Jubilee
LOS ANGELES - Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Kaplan were on hand in Winnipeg, Canada,
on September 1st when Harry's father and
moth er celebrated their Diamond Jubilee.
The affair was a family gathering and
the children and grandchildren were on
hand to help the grand old couple cele-
brate the gala occasion.
Harry is head of the local Southwestern
Vending Machine Co. and he and Mrs.
Kaplan went to Winnipeg by train. Follow.
ing the Jubilee celebration the Kaplans
will visit with their many relatives and
friends in Canada and plan to r eturn home
about the first of October.
