mold public opinion, and gain financial
recognition.
Nominations for officers were made at
the meeting of November 5, 1942, to be
voted on at the meeting to be held on No·
vember 19, 1942, at which time the follow-
ing officers were elected fo the coming
year:
R. C. Bernhardt, President; J. Sheppard,
Vice· President ; H . Sheward, Secretary; H.
Scott, Treasurer; H. Reese, P. Frank, M.
Cowan, B. FiremalJ, L. Sussman, Directors
for the coming year.
In addition to the five directors elected
the president appointed a rotating board
consisting of three members of the associa-
tion who serve for a period of three months.
These members are taken from the roll of
the association in alphabetical order. This
arrangement places an additional twelve
members of the association on the Board of
Directors during the course of the year.
The object in adding these is two·fold.
First, to acquaint as many members as pos-
sible with the actual working of the Board,
and secondly to enable the membership to
discover future material for officers and di·
rectors.
The Philadelphia organization functions
in a very democratic manner and the com-
bined officers and directors, together with
the various committees, makes it possible
for two-thirds of the membership to func·
tion actively in the organization at all
times. This procedure has shown a marked
tendency to increase better understanding,
goodwill and fellowship among the mem-
bers of the organization. It has prevented
the possibility of an organized minority di-
recting the policies of the organization.
The association selected as its hit tune
for the month of December, the new treas-
ury song Everybody Every Pay Day. By
publicizing this tune the membership feels
they are contributing toward a patriotic
effort to encourage the sale of war savings
stamps and bonds. The members of the
organization are continuing their policy of
investing all reserve funds in war savings
bonds. This means that when the war is
over the operators of Philadelphia will
have all their depreciation reserve intact
and will be in a fine position to make the
necessary replacements on their routes.

manager, Jack Cade. The organization be-
gan their fiscal year with a deficit and con-
cluded it with all obligations met and paid
and a tidy balance on hand. This was ac-
complished by cutting all expenditures to
the bone without impeding the natural
functions of the organi~ation. The associa-
tion was able to conduct their business and
still reduce membership dues appro;,:imate-
ly 40 percent.
Musicraff Populars Ready
NEW YORK.- After many years of pro-
ducing high quality classical records for
operators as well as dealers throughout the
world, Musicraft Corporation has officially
declared itself in the popular record field.
First releases of Musicraft popular records
were made recently and each record will
carry two top sides with name artists.
The first Musicraft popular releases are
Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammuni-
tion backed up by White Christmas. Both
sides were recorded by the Song Spinners,
a top flight featured group on the Mutual
Network. The second record, also made by
the Song Spinners, is When the Lights Go
on Again, and backed by Mr. 5 by 5.
Musicraft Corporation has enjoyed an
outstanding reputation in the promotion of
low priced high quality classical and semi-
classical discs for many years. Paul Puner,
president of Musicraft, explains, "For the
past year, we have been besieged by oper-
ators all over the country to go into the
popular record field. Having finally gone
into the field, it is our intention to strike
for the top as we always have, making only
top ranking numbers of top quality with
top artists. It is also our intention to re-
lease at least 2 good records each month,
and along during the middle of 1943, to
release 4 and 6 each month. Important to
operators is the fact that when we release
records they will be available immediately.
Operators all over the country have al-
ready used the Hill.Billy releases as well as
the Rhumba music produced by Musicraft
Corporation with tremendous success.
