PHILADELPHIA (RC)-The State Asso-
ciation is awaiting action by the Phila-
delphia operators' group on a proposal
that the entire local organization be-
come affiliated in membership with the
state association. Following a vote,
which is expected to be favorable , com-
plete activity on the part of the state
officials will be resumed.
Most important state-wide activity is
now being concentrated toward induc-
ing operation among local operator
groups under supervision of state asso-
ciation executives. Activity throughout
the entire state has been localized with
the idea that strong local groups will be
better able to aid in the formation of
new central quarters.
LOS ANGELES.-As the REVIEW goes
to press, Will Golden reports that car-
penters are still hammering, painters
are still painting and the finishing
touches are being added with the in-
stallation of fixtures, rugs and other ap-
purtenances, to his new, larger, and
more centrally located headquarters at
1405 West V{qshihgton Boulevard. How-
ever, he promises that visitors will be
made to feel at home in spite of the
commotion. A last minute inspection re-
veals that for the number of machines
being hauled in and out of the place
constantly, things are running pretty
smoothly.
Golden, once head of the CMA of
New York, and formerly associated v,ith
another cigarette vending machine com-
pany and with the tobacco jobbing busi-
ness, has been in Los Angeles about six
months in the interest of U-Need-A-Pak
products. Until this month he was lo-
cated on the thirteenth floor of the Holly-
wood Storage Building, from which point
he introduced U-Need-A-Pak cigarette
merchandisers and U-Need-A candy
merchandisers to a great many opera-
tors. The fifteen column cigarette ma-
chine in particular has attracted a great
deal of interest, he reports.
Volume of business demanded larger
space, and need for more central show-
rooms and warehouses resulted in his
removal to the present new quarters
which provide attractive display spaces,
offices on a mezzanine balcony, =d
storage room for several hundred ma-
chines. Golden asserts that the stock
will be kept filled at all times so that
any sized machine, and in any color,
will be available at the demands of the
operator.
Golden is western head of the U-
Need-A-Pak Products Corp., and U-
Need-A Merchandiser, Inc., both of
Brooklyn, N. Y. The company's other of-
fice, headed by his brother, is located in
Cleveland. Between them the two broth-
ers cover a vast territory with these
products.
e
policy beneficial to operators of all sec-
tions. At present certain sections are
represented only by independent opera-
tors and not by an entire organization
of united operators.
With this idea in view state officers
have helped form two local groups. Op-
erators in the Reading section are work-
ing toward a local, representative or-
ganization. Allentown operators also
have cooperated in the idea of joining
together in a unified association.
Under the direction of state officials
local groups have begun the distribution
of petitions referring to the Pennsylvania
State mercantile license. These peti-
tions, signed by voters in all districts
and forwarded to Harrisburg, where the
state legislature is now meeting, advo-
cate a tax of $5 on each machine and
permission to issue prizes for all games
of skill. With issuance of these peti-
tions favorable action may soon be ob-
tained from the legislature.

As a colored doorman ran down to
open the limousine door, he tripped and
rolled down the last four steps.
"For heaven's sake, be careful," cried
the manager. "They'll think you're one
of our members."
