NEW YORK-Joseph Fishman,
executive director of the Amalga-
mated New York Vending Machine
Operators' Association, and one of
the best known operators in the
New York area, delivered the fol-
lowing address at a recent ban-
quet of the Association:
"The pin-machine business is a
decent l>usiness. Nobody needs to
be ashamed to be in it. For years
it has been the fashion to attack
it. The operators have talked
about pin machines as though
they were ashamed of them.
Newspapers have jumped on the
pin-machine operator, and politi-
cians have backed up these news-
papers more or less for their own
publicity reasons."
"Why should the newspapers
jump on the pin-machine busi-
ness any more than the baseball
business? Pin machines are real

skill. They are not gambling de-

greatest money-makers in the
United States and is proving it-
self to be even a greater money-

This record of 14 consecutive
hits is said to be the greatest ever
established by any firm in the
coin machine industry and some of
the first games made by the com-
pany, Such as the Jiggers, are still
on location in many parts of the

LOS ANGELES-In an endeav-
or to establish a fair competition
code among the various operating
groups in Los Angeles, the Cali.
fornia Amusement Machine Oper-
ators Association has held a series
of meetings 'the past month at
which such a code was discussed.
Purpose of such a code would be
to do away with renting pin ga.mes
and establish a 50 per cent com·
mission sharing basis for opera·
tors.
.
To make the arrangement effec-
tive the various operators would
be required to join the association.
First offense would be punishable
by a fine of $25 if found guilty,
second itffense a fine of $50, and
third offense would mean expul·
sion from the membership.
