Nationally Known Inventor
Creates ' New Idea in Pin Game
LOS ANGELES-Norman Tatham,
well-known inventor and creator of a
number of well-known and successful
inventions, has created a new idea in
a games machine which, from ap-
pearances, should add another win-
ner to his many successes.
The
new game has been christened "The
Social Whirl."
The principle of the new idea is in
the form of a revolving games table,
where four players can be entertained
at the same time-likewise one play-
er can enjoy the game alone. You sit
down instead of standing up and food
and drinks can be served while the
game is progressing. The inside of
the table, under sealed glass, revolves
by the mere pulling of a lever. This
rotates the game to the next player
on the left, etc. The sitting down
feature appeals to the merchant due
to the fact that more games will be
played and more goods sold under
such ideal conditions. Mr. Tatham
has been perfecting this new idea for
the past nine months before placing
it on the market.
Mr. Tathem's first big success was
a specially invented rigging used in
the safety of aerial performers in cir-
cuses and this invention bas
saved the lives of many hundreds of
aerial performers. It is a circus law
that every performer use the Tatham
rigging. He also invented the well-
known Wrigley PK gum vending ma-
chine as well as a ball gum machine
of which over 200,000 are in use. He
also is the father . of the weighing
scale, being the first inventor to
manufacture same in the United
States.
Besides being an inventor, Mr. Ta-
tham has been an international ath-

profits in merchandising machines,
Ad-Lee Company is pushing its
Foursome vending machine at the
present time. "Unlike the placing
of amusement games and novelty
machines that last for a time," s a y
the makers, "up-to-date merchandis-
ing venders create that year in and
year out income that the logical
level-beaded business man is seek-
ing. No legal barriers to buck, no
novelty to die out, but something '
that the public wants daily is of-
fered thru these busy little devices."
The Foursome is a penny vender
with four compartments offering a
selection of four varieties of nuts,
confections, etc., in olle machine.
Has good visibility to make the
sales appeal and is compact for the
amount of
merchandise offered.
Coin mechanism has been developed
for this machine and is easily ad-
justable to vend the quantity de-
sired of each particular product.
Jerry Wertheimer, sales manager, is
elated about the prospects for the
machine.
