Love" is equally fine and you can ap-
preciate her voice here because she
doesn't have to battle t he band to
make herself heard. Capitol 15278.
The Ravens seem to be an up and
down outfi t . One of t heir records
makes you t h ink t hey're strictly out
of this world, then another convinces
that t hey're only human. " I Don't
Know Why I Love You Like I Do"
seems to have m uch too much bass
voice for comfort and " H ow Could I
Know" left this reviewer unmoved.
National 9059.
People are beginning to discover
Leslie Scott. H is "It Shouldn't Hap-
pen To A Dream" g ets t he nod over
"Gettin' Sentimental Over You." How-
ever, it's a f ortunant e occurence t hat
he gets intelligent backing and you
can wager t hat you'll hear more of
t his artist. Victor 20-3213.
F reddie Martin's release of "So
Dear To My Heart" wasn't timed to
match the waxin g of t he same tune
by other artists but it's out now ·and
can take advantage of t he Walt Disney
promotion. We liked "It's Watcha Do
With Watcha Got," on the reverse,
but we've a lways been a sucker for
pop tunes. Victor 20-3130.
If you're looking for something
wonderful a long instrumental lines,
we want to recommend "I'm In The
Mood For Love" and "I Only Have
Eyes F or You." Freddy Gardner plays
t he sax as beautifully as it's ever
been played a nd both of t he old tunes
are brought to life so t hat t hey stir
up all kinds of memories. Columbia
38346.
E lmo Tanner used to whistle his
way t hrough everything with Ted
Weems (and he may still do so today)
but F red Lowery has something splen-
did in "Intermezzo" a nd "Red Sa ils
In The Sunset." Whistling is some-
thing of a lost art and whenever one
hears a good whistler, all sit up and
take notice. Columbia 38344.
"Wabash Blues" gets the Pee Wee
Hunt treatment on a late release and
"High Society" goes along as pla t ter-
mate. We pref er " Wjlbash Blues" over
it's reverse but H unt makes t he kind
of music t hat is defi nit ely good listen-
ing. Capitol 15299.
Anita O'Day does her stuff with
Gene Krupa on "Tea For Two" and
"How High The Moon." Miss O'Day,
who has had her difficulties with a
variety of orchestras, is solid on both
of these numbers. These were origi-
nally cut years ago for recently the
O'Day girl has signed with another
record ing company and she and Krupa
parted, lo, t hese many moons. Some-
times conditions exist which make a
company dig down in t he barrel, but
