propriated to provide every lady who
attends the banquet with a beautiful
gift. Other appropriations were made
for decorations for the Exhibit Hall
and incidental expenses.
Manufacturers who have not yet
joined the new association will be cor
dially invited to do so when they are
met on the Exhibit Floor by the mem
bership committee which consists of
Dave Gottlieb, Wm. Ryan and Walter
Tratsch.

No initiation fee will be charged the
new members nor will any dues be
levied without action by the entire
association.
T
call has been
for leaders; the leaders have re
sponded, and they have their work cut
out for them. Internal jealousies have
reduced the spirit of cooperation
among manufacturers to a minimum.
Unfair taxation, both municipal and
state levied, have seriously threatened
the very livelihood of thousands of
coin machine operators. Something
had to be done to make it possible for
the manufacturers and operators to
oppose the foes of the industry with a
united front. IT HAS BEEN DONE.
Coin Machine Manufacturers
At the last meeting of the executive
and general committees, which is com
posed of Lee S. Jones, Vincent Shea,
Tom Watling, D. C. Rock-Ola, M.
Gensberg, L. B. Elliott, J. E. Van
Tuyl, E. W. Pace, D. Dollnig, Wm. G.
Gray, Ray Maloney, Walter A.
Tratsch, Wm. J. Ryan, J. H. Keeney,
D. Gottlieb and J. O. Huber, appro
priations were made of a substantial
amount for the banquet and entertain
ment to be held free of charge to the
attending operators and manufactur
ers, Wednesday evening, February 24.
Eight hundred tickets are to be pro
rated among the manufacturers exhib
iting at so much per booth.
Another substantial amount was ap

JOURNAL
The executive committee of the as
sociation reported the Big Show to be
a “ sell-out5’ from the standpoint of
booth space sold. It has been neces
sary to acquire additional space for
the third time to accommodate the in
flux of exhibitors.
There probably will be 800 or more
in attendance at the banquet, which is
to be absolutely free. Nothing like it
has ever taken place in this industry,
and probably not in any other. The
operators will be feted in a style they
never dreamed of. Lavish display, en
tertainment and refreshments will give
the operators a treat they will remem
ber for many years to come.
h e
Many suggestions have already been
made, but have been “ tabled” for fur
ther consideration when the hundred
and twenty-five or more manufactur
ers get together at the Big Show. All
members will have a voice in shaping
the destiny of the industry.
If you as an operator can possibly ,
make arrangements to attend this stu
pendous showing of new machines, it
will be to your advantage to do so.
The railroad fare will be small in
comparison with the valuable informa
tion to be gathered.
Low Rate Fares Available
to Operators
Arrangements have been made with
the railroads for a half price return
fare. Operators who plan to attend
the Convention should not neglect to
. ask for a certificate which entitles the
holder to the half rate fare on the
return trip. This means a substantial
saving particularly to some operators
who are coming great distances.
