EANUTS continue to be a pop
ular confection and food, in fact
during the last six months there has
been an enormous increase in pea
nut consumption.
P
From the beginning of the season
until March 5,1932, which is slight
ly less than six months, 4,800 ears of
peanuts had already been shipped
out of the Southeast. This is not
only 1,700 cars greater than the
shipments of the 1930-1931 season
to the same date, but it is even 600
cars heavier than were shipped to
this date in the most active previous
season, that of 1927-1928, a consid
erable increase.

ing machine in Maysville, Ken
tucky, that’s news, too.
According to the Independence,
a newspaper in that locality, the
Russell Theatre has installed a new
candy machine manufactured by
Pack Shops, Incorporated.
The “news item” also goes on to
say that a new weighing scale has
been installed in the lobby of the
same theatre and that it is the new
est to be introduced in the city. Ap
parently there are still some “spots”
left for wide .awake operators.

Then there is Churchill’s story of
the old lady from Surrey who in
quired of the depot agent: “What
time does the next train come and
go?” He replied: “From two to two
to two two.” She peered closely and
asked: “Be you the whistle?”
