Canada Dry Tries Out A Plastic Soft Drink
Bottle in New York
Last month, Canada Dry began testing plastic bottles
in public usage in the City of New York. It is offering
customers its ginger ale in 12 oz. bottles of a new form
as well as material. These are of a smooth, shoulder-
less shape like a small version of the no-return quarts
They feature Alcoa aluminum screw top caps and are
products of the American Can Co.
Coca Cola has been, and is, carrying out trials on ·
Monsanto Chemicals plastic bottles in the Massachu-
setts, Rhode Island areas of New Bedford and Provi-
dence.

A new push-button, fully-automatic postage stamp dispen-
sing machine has been introduced on the market. The elec-
tronically-operated Scribe Stamp Vendor eliminates hand
folding of stamps by use of a casette which will accept
coils of from 100 to 3,000 tacmps.
Its maker-Scribe Internationale ( cq )-says the unit is
similar to those being supplied to the U. S. Post Office
Department. It has been extensively tested by the United
States Postal Testing Laboratory.
Marketed in two models-the SI 100 and the SI 300-
the stamp vendor can be factory set to vend stamps at
either full value or at 80 per cent value. A security system
allows only bona fide coins. It also has an anti-jamming
device.

The SI 300 has three modules, providing combinations
of 3 denominations of stamps-two 10 cent selections and
two 25 cent selections. The SI 100 is a single unit and can
supply one stamp combination. Six Pre-set models are avail-
able.
