Big Contract Let
By Rock-Ola
The financial sections of the Chi­
cago papers are carrying the news of
a huge contract let by the Rock-Ola
Manufacturing Corporation. The fig­
ure involved is well over $75,000.00.
This contract, which is just being
completed, called for additional build-
lng and modernization of the big
Rock-Ola plant at Kedzie and Chi­
cago Avenues, in Chicago. Among
the projects listed for the Rock-Ola
Plant are the replacement of all pip-
lng in the plant’s engine rooms, con­
struction of additional loading plat­
forms, the building of cement floors
in several buildings of the Rock-Ola

properties, the installation of new
power lines, installation of new elec­
tric motors in several divisions of the
plant, new water lines, and motoriz­
ing of a great deal of the plant’s
machinery.
The contract also called for out­
side decorating in addition to the big
project just recently completed. All
the outside walls were then sand­
blasted, and exposed surfaces paint­
ed. At that time civic-minded mem­
bers of the industrial area dominated
by the Rock-Ola plant expressed their
appreciation of the way in which the
big plant has brightened up that sec­
tion of the city.

It is also interesting to notice a re­
port from Rock-Ola showing 1,000
employees on the payroll at the pres­
ent time. The entire plant is unusual­
ly busy, due, for one thing, to the
tremendous nation-wide demand for
the current Rock-Ola favorites—
among them Hollywood, and Ditto.
Besides, production is in full swing on
Flashlite, Headlite, Hold and Draw,
Loboy Scales, and other well-known
favorites. Also there is the continu­
ous production to supply the nation’s
