A T last, the tournament on the
Super “8” game dponsored by D.
Robbins & Co., Brooklyn, N. Y., has
taken place and full details are now
available to the many operators, job­
bers and manufacturers who ex­
pressed interest in the event by send­
ing hundreds of letters to Dave
Robbins asking for further details.
The tournament attracted nation­
wide attention, although its actual
scope was only New York City and
the grand prizes were awarded only
to local players. The tournament was
the result of careful and skillful
planning by Dave Robbins.
The details of the tournament were
as follows: First, a particular game
had to be selected. It had to be a
pin game with skill features and a
game that was licensed by the City
of New York. It also had to be a
game that was popular. As D. Robbins
& Co. had sold over 1,000 Super “8”
games in New York City and because
this game was highly popular with
the players, Dave Robbins selected
this game to be featured.

Then, beautiful signs were printed
by Dave Robbins and given to all the
operators and jobbers of Super “8."
The signs explained the tournament
in simple language and called the at­
tention of the players to the two
latest model Philco Foreign and
American broadcast radios which
would be awarded to the two winners
of the finals. Each merchant, where
Super “8” was installed, was given an
entry ticket, which the merchant was
asked to give to the person in his
store who made the highest score on
Super “8” up to midnight of October
14th.
The Entry Ticket entitled the
holder to play at the finals on Octo­
ber 15th or October 16th at a popular
Sportland in Brooklyn or Manhattan,
whichever Sportland was convenient
for him to appear at. Receipts were
issued to all players at the finals,
which stated their name, address and
score made. The following day, the
winners of both tournaments were
announced in the New York Daily
Mirror. Holders of receipts with the
winning scores were informed to call
with their receipts at the Sportlands
in which they played to receive the
Philco radios.
Hundreds of players competed in
the finals. The Sportlands at which
the finals were held did a land office
business
