Mixes Operating With
Dogs, Game Cocks
C. V. Heise of Edmonton, Canada,
visited the office of A u t o m a t ic A g e
recently during a buying trip to the
United States. Besides operating ma
chines of all types in Canada, Mr.
Heise breeds pedigreed hunting and
fighting dogs and game cocks.
Although he was born within 100
miles of Chicago Mr. Heise prefers
living in Canada. He said Canada
lacked a few things the States of
fered but made up for it in comforta
ble climate during summer, whole
some, inexpensive food, and durable
clothing. The hunting and fishing
there, of course, can't be excelled.
In his part of Canada they start
Sunday baseball games at 7 P. M.
(it is light enough to read till 11
P. M. in summer), but in winter the
nights are correspondingly long.
Operators in his locality have plenty
of time in winter to “burn the mid
night oil” and figure how to increase
the play on their machines in the
summer outdoor season.

Gebert Vacations
in North Woods
Mr. A. E. Gebert, manager of the
Advance Machine Company is prob
ably pulling in a big “musky” right
now while you are reading this. He
left on July 11th with his family for
the “north woods” where he planned
to stay for nearly three weeks. Here’s
hoping he won’t have to exaggerate
the next time we see him, but who
ever found a real fisherman that re
fused to stretch a point or two.

Esquirol Himself
Defends Operator
New York, June 26.— State Sena
tor Joseph Esquirol, one of the spon
sors of the bill outlawing certain
types of machines, successfully de
fended a mint machine possessor in
Downtown Court, Brooklyn, yester
day.
Police charged Joseph Farrel, man
ager of the 67 Club, at 67 Pineapple
St., Brooklyn, with possession. But
Esquirol argued that the machine
was an old one, stored on an unused,
unlighted fourth floor, where no one
was likely to play it, and Magistrate
Rudich agreed.
