E. S. Gaylord Opens New
Distributing Firm

issue by the new Gaylord Coin Ma
chine Corporation which opened head
quarters at 1227 Washington Blvd.,
Chicago, on about December 15th and
almost overnight launched an ambi
tious program of sales. The firm will
be exclusive Chicago distributors for
Bally Manufacturing Company and
will also handle a complete line of
machines by other leading manufac
turers.
Mr. E. S. Gaylord, vice-president
of the new firm, is well known to
operators and has established a credit
able record for sales during his con
nections with two of the largest coin
machine manufacturers. In 1927 he
was made divisional sales manager
for National Automatic Machines
Company of St. Paul and he traveled
extensively in the interests of cabinet
type scales pioneered by that firm.
A fter three years with the St. Paul
firm, Mr. Gaylord went to New York
where he opened a sales office for
Rock-Ola Manufacturing Corporation,
handling the Featuristic scale. Early
in 1934 he became sales manager of
Associated with Mr. Gaylord is Col.
John C. Bohan, president of the firm,
who is a well known Chicago business
man. A s construction manager for
the George A . Fuller Company, Mr.
Bohan supervised the erection of the
largest hotel in the world, The
Stevens, the exterior of Chicago’s
Union Station, as well as many other
important buildings. He also has a
fine war record, serving as a major
in the 123rd Field Artillery, and at
the present time holding a commis
sion as Colonel of Field Artillery. He
was awarded the silver star for gal
lantry in action during the war.
The Gaylord Coin Machine Corpo
ration has been incorporated under
the laws of Illinois and it is reported
that considerable capital is back of
the enterprise.

lively demand for Gabel phonographs.
Gabel’s Junior De Luxe M odem is
rivalling the sales record of the fa
mous Gabel’s Entertainer. Produc
tion has been stepped up on both
units.
Reports from Mr. H . R. Collard,
Eastern sales representative, show
present interest in musical units
among operators to be greater than
at any time since before prohibition.
Mr. Collard has been in charge of
the New York office for the past two
years and is widely known and well
liked by Eastern operators.
Mr. Lestem Hearn, a former Gabel
operator for many years, has been in
charge of the Texas branch at Hous
ton for the past year. He reports
heavy buying in Eastern and North
eastern Texas.
