Cigarettes may not be groceries but sales
of this commodity are a substantial item
in chain store business and the remark
was made by an expert that were the big
cigarettes companies given their way every
chain store in the country would literally
be plastered with cigarette displays and
the companies would glady buy up all the
store window space for the display of their
product. Prices on the article are to be
put up by Kroger Grocery & Bakery very
shortly in its various territories bu the
new list will be governed by competitive
conditions. M. B. Skaggs states that Safe­
way expects to put up prices.
An increasing number of refrigerated
display cases for candy that are refriger­
ated for keeping the candy cool through
the summer are making their appearance.
This means another opportunity for re­
frigerated vending machines, as it is highly
probable that the public will soon be edu­
cated to demand candy from refrigerated
containers through the summer.

to be a good article for vending machines
in apartment buildings.

Chester-Pollard, Ltd of Blackpool, Eng.,
are introducing The Little Whirlwind to
English operators.
They report being
swamped with orders; also place the ma­
chines with operators on a rental basis.
The electrical refrigeration industry has
recently taken steps to forestall over­
production in that trade. It will undertake
to secure and give out accurate informa­
tion among manufacturers as to the pro­
duction and distribution of their product.
The vending machine trade is not yet well
enough organized to undertake such a con­
structive step.
While Europe has been getting most at­
tention in the news of late, important
financial developments have been taking
place with relation to South America coun­
tries. A few manufacturers in the auto­
matic trade have already developed an ex­
port business with our neighbors to the
South.
The German trade paper “ Der Automat,”
Dittrichring 15, Leipzig C -l, invites manu­
facturers and operators who wish informa­
tion about sources of supply concerning
German coin machines to make inquiry of
them.
Bunte Brothers have put out an attrac­
tive line of summer candies to be displayed
on their open self-service racks in stores.
The success of this “ self-service” idea
shows what vending machines would gain
in popularity by handling all the popular
penny, nickel and dime candy items in
stores.
Icyeast, a new frozen product of ice
cream confection containing genuine yeast
is now on the market. Patents covering
the product and its manufacture have been
applied for.
This is another interesting
product waiting for the frozen confection
venders.
Chocco-Yeast is now being heralded over
the air. This is another one of the popular
health candies that ought to go good in
