The responsibility of publishing a trade journal for the auto
matic field calls for the same progressive spirit that must manifest
itself in the manufacturer and operator of these machines. We are
constantly looking about for the best methods to meet the expecta-
’ tions of our readers and to merit their confidence in us. If there
should be change in tone or method of arrangement at any time
that is not pleasing, we ask our readers to patiently remember that
these are signs of life and that we are looking for some better way
to do things. So far in the world’s progress the only method that
seems to show whether a new idea will succeed is to try it out.
Ideas that seem to meet all the requirements of success when
judged in theory, fail miserably when put to the test out in the
field. So we will keep continually trying out new ideas, and will
ask our readers to get into the spirit of the game and help make
the best of it.
This issue announces the trial of the questionaire method to get
expressions from the operators out in the field. We all feel that a
