A Detroit operator, Mr, Weiner,
was killed the latter part o f Septem
ber by hold-up men for the small
sum of one dime, according to word
received from the Lemke Specialty
Company of that city.
Following his death a collection
was taken up for his wife and two
children. This was sponsored by
the Detroit Times newspaper and
amounted to $8,000.
Mr. Henry C. Lemke says of him:
“ The absence o f our friend, Mr.
Weiner, is very much regretted. He
has been known to be an operator
with a smile and a good word for
everyone, no matter when or where
you would see him.”
