service as it is good news matter.
And a few dollars in advertising has
always proved the success of my
operations in any town right from
the start.
I have operated various machines,
penny nickel and dime, and have
made some money from them all.
Now I am operating lockers exclu
sively. But if I were again operat
ing any kind of a route in any reas
onable center, where there were
transients, clubs, golf courses, parks,
etc., I would install locker cabinets
in my best locations. Their cost is
low considering the high type of ser
vice, the play is longer, being a ten
cent machine, although I have a num
ber of quarter routes in parks and
g o lf courses and in some stations.
And these cabinets tend to dignify
the operating business.
It is my experience that the vend
ing machine operator is an intelligent
and most often clever business man,
and I am glad to see so vast an im
provement in this business during
the past few years, more particularly
during the past 18 months through
the influence of The AUTOMATIC
AGE and the organization of the
manufacturers and operators. The
operators association is of great value
to any operator. It gives him a sort
o f prestige and helps to enhance his
business standing to be able to show
he is one of a great fraternity of
professional operators.
I am also
delighted to note that so many oper
ators are adding parcel checking cab
inets to their routes. It is a fascinat
ing angle of the operating business
and I am always pleased to meet any
operator in my travels who is alive
to the latest opportunities in this
business.
