Acquire Plant
The Apple Gum Corporation, New
V ork, manufacturers o f chewing gum,
have acquired the form er Listerated
Orbit Gum plant, located at Newport,
R, I. The plant has a floor space o f
ever sixty thousand square feet with
private railroad siding, and is one of
the most modem plants in the United
States, in an ideal location fo r the
manufacture o f a pure-food produc:-,
and shipping facilities by rail and
water are unequaled. The company
will install the latest automatic ma
chinery fo r the manufacture o f their
product, with a daily capacity o f over
a million sticks. The form er planf
located at Newark, N. J., has been
taxed to capacity, operating nights
and holidays, but unable to meet the
■ever increased capacity, the custo
mers will not experience the delay in
execution o f their orders, as hereto
fore.
High Price of Chicle

ers had no m onopoly on the floor,

farmers, the celery and truck grow
ers, held forth fo r about half o f the
sessions.
