Quite So!
W. C. T. U. charges that slot ma
chines are operating which are in
reality gambling devices.
That's right. Drop a penny in the
; lot and you never know whether or
not you’ll get a stick o f gum.
While the campaign is on full blast
against slot machines, why wouldn’t
it be a good time to demand rocking
chairs fo r telephone booths? — Chi

A ge
Pencil Vender and
Name Printer
An interesting machine now being
put on the market is a name printer
which vends a pencil and prints your
name on it. It is a nickel machinc
and prints 24 letters in all. Although
this machine is a complete printing
press, it is very simple in its construc
tion. It prints one letter at a time
and therefore will not break the lead
in the pencil. Its operation bein^
similar to the well-known name plate
machines it i-equires no explanation
as to how to operate it, although
directions are printed in a prominent
place on the machine. The hopper
holds an ample supply o f pencils and
is said not to clog or stick. Another
feature is that the hopper is under a
separate lock so that a supply o f
pencils may be left with the machine.
Store keepers are said to take to this
machine on a 25 percent basis, and it
is well adapted to store counter space,
and pays well.
The machine is made in two sizes.
The small size is operated with a
penny and the customer puts his own
pencil in to print his name on it. The
machine is finished in mahogany, and
is simple in operation and does well
in corner stores and around school
houses. A big feature is the fact that
teachers encourage children to havr
their names on their pencils for san
itary reasons as there is no danger in
others getting the wrong pencil. The
advertisement appears on another
page.
