bination lift plunger is what has
killed nearly every machine of this
type. The lift plunger on Joyball is
p::oven perfect, it always works.
The coin slot has' a triple tumbler
dog arrangement and is one of. the
best known in the industry. The
cash box is conveniently located right
in the front part of the machine and
so well constructed that it cannot be
opened by a cracksman. It is so
easily serviced that a complete serv-
icing operation should not take more
than a few moments.
There never yet has been a ma-
chin e of this type which could be
boldly lifted overhead and the coins
and balls tumbled over and then re-
placed on the floor and have it work
perfectly. Joyball is the only ma-
chine of this kind that will allow for
such practices. N or in this type of
machine before has anyone been cer-
tain that someone could sit on it
rougly and that the legs would still
remain in position. On Joyball this
is as easily done as if you sat down
on your favorite chair- no more
harm would accrue.
metal tokens for, use on street cars
and public vehicles might also be
dispensed with, in some, cases, if a
single coin could be used to make
payment along with the five-cent
piece. In museums and among pri-
vate collections three-cent pieces and
two-cent coins are on display-relics
of days when the general level of
-prices was lower than at present. In
view of recent sharp declines in
prices, the desirability of reintroduc-
ing a greater variety of minor coins
is at .least worth consideration.
A CALL FOR NEW COINS
Our coinage is pretty well stand-
ardized now, and for many years we
have seen no changes in the denom-
inations of _ coins, and only occasional
alterations in design. But the rapid-
ity of which deflation has been pro-
ceeding suggests to the New York
Journal of Commerce that "the time
may be ripe for introducing a new
type of minor coin with a denomina-
tion intermediate between that of
the cent and the nickel":
The slot vending-machine, for in-
stance, needs a coin of this son:
Pacific Coast, Watch O:o.t
for These Sluggers
Fred Jeannet advises us that a
pair of coin sluggers are headed
south down the Pacific coast. Here's
his own message. Read it: "Warn-
ing' Pacific Coast operators-there
is a pair of coin sluggers headed
south-slugging 25c machines as
they go . Their slugs' a r e of zinc but
poor job. Would suggest that oper-
ators deal individually with these
fellows."

Sensing trouble, Dick climbs into

There in front of one of his ten

The more he wiggled the tighter it

foolish looking he became.

WAL, TAN MY HIDE
It was after the usual hard days'
grind that Dick Leighton, the big
Oregon Coast operator, settled him-
self down to -sleep for the night.
About one .A. M. his peaceful slum-
ber was - rudely disturbed by a
pounding on his front door.
"What the h--", pipes Dick.
"Hurry up", says the man at the
door, "He's caught and can't move."
"Who's caught; why, how and
what the devil is all this about",
answers Dick, pushing aside the

And that's the way Al puts it up
to us that he's solid for Florida and
we can't blame him. W·e have bun-
dled up a bunch of AUTOMATI C
WORLDS and sent them to him and
trust that he reads them and turn
himself from darkness to light. Al-
ways glad to hear from Mr. Stein,
you bet. He's a real coin machine
man and knows the game from a lI
angles and then some. Operators in
the Florida section should get in
touch with him.

New York and Brooklyn
Becoming Coin Ma-
chine Center
Hats off to New York City and
Brooklyn, N. Y.
These two ou t-
standing neighboring
cities are
swiftly rising to the, distinction of
being the center of coin mach ine
activities of the world. New firms
that are reliable are springing up
every day, firms that stay and be-
come firmly grounded. There has
been less failures in the industry
around these cities than anywhere
else in America during the past few
hard years. Many of these eastern
firms have expanded and gone for-
ward at a rapid rate and have been
a real asset to operators all over
America.
This paper predicts an outstanding
growth and advancement in the coin
machine i ndustry, among t he eastern
members during the next f.ew years
that will amaze the world.
