MARS INTELLITRAc Co1N CHANGER T'SHOOTING Gu10E
Mars Electronics
West Chester, Pennsylvania
To properly troubleshoot and re-
pair the IntelliTrac Series of coin
changers, it is imperative to have
a solid understanding of the se-
quential operation of the changer.
FAILURE CATEGORIES
All failures can be grouped into six
categories:
1. Power Failures
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
Acceptance Failures
Dispense Failures
Coin Routing Failures
Credit Failures
Peripheral Failures
1. POWER FAILURES
]
Changer is ''Dead"
All coins are rejected. A loss of
+5V will disable all of the digital
circuitry, including the micropro-
cessor. No coin recognition, gate,
dispense or peripheral operations
can be accomplished.
AREAS To INVESTIGATE
Models TRC-6000/TRC-6010
• +5V Supply from the vending
machine controller
• Defective logic component
loading
A loss of full-wave rectified l I0V
(TRC-6000), full-wave rectified
24 V (TRC-6010) or the regulated
l IOV (TRC-6800) will disable all
solenoid drive functions (First
Gate, Second Gate, Dispensers,
Vend Relay, Exact Change Light
and Cash Meter). The coin rec-
ognition, coin tube sensor and
microprocessor circuitry should
operate properly.
AREAs To INVESTIGATE
Models TRC-6000/TRC-6010
• Full-wave rectified ll0V or 24V
from the vending machine con-
troller
• All solenoid drive circuits
NOTE: It is advisable to check
the resistance between pins 10
and 12 of the Main Cable Assem-
bly for a short prior to applying
power to the unit.
Model TRC-6800
• l lOVac from vending machine
• + l IOV Power Supply circuit
• All solenoid drive circuits
NOTE: It is advisable to check
the resistance between pins I and
2 of the Main Cable Assembly
for a short prior to applying
power to the unit.
+5V Output
Model TRC-6800
A failure of the +BV supply.
• l lOVac Supply from the vend-
ing machine
• +SV Power Supply circuit
• Defective logic component
loading +SV output
This will disable the HFI, HF2,
and Strobe oscillators. No coins
will be sensed by the HFI coils
and the transaction will never be
started.
AREAs To INVESTIGATE
Models TRC-6000/TRC-6010
+SV Supply from the vending
machine controller "Charge
Pump" circuit HFI, HF2, and
Strobe oscillator circuits
Model TRC-6800
• ll0VAC from the vendor
• +8V Power Supply circuit
• HFI, HF2, and Strobe oscilla-
tor circuits

2. AccEPrANCE FAILURES
J
All or some coins are rejected.
When a valid coin meets all the
criteria for acceptance the First
Gate will be enabled. These cri-
teria include the presence of a
Blocker or Accept Enable Signal,
the proper Option Switch set-
tings, an adequate change in-
ventory ( dependent on the Op-
tion Switch settings), HFI and
HF2 oscillator output values
within predetermined, statisti-
cally sound windows, established
through the teach and massage
operations, proper microproces-
sor program execution and the
proper operation of the First
Gate circuit. Poor acceptance
may be corrected by dropping a
large number of coins of the ap-
propriate denomination. This
massaging technique will statisti-
cally adjust the acceptance win-
dows for improved acceptance.
