SYMPTOM
SOLUTION
Micro Manufacturing has re-
ceived reports from the field that
some of the Magical Touch games
were "locking up" at various
points during the attract mode of
the game.
If you have machines in stock
that are experiencing lock up
problems, or have customers that
are experiencing them, please
call our service department for an
advance replacement chip.
This could present itself during
the display of one of the attract
mode screens or as a "black
screen" if the lock up happened
to occur while the game was
changing from one screen to an-
other.
We will be glad to send out these
replacement parts by UPS
Ground at no charge ( customers
account will be billed for $10 for
each chip and that charge will be
credited in full when the old part
is returned).
CAUSE
While it is possible that other de-
fects may rarely cause a similar
lock up problem, we are confi-
dent that this part is the cause of
the vast majority of these prob-
lems.
We were able to duplicate the
problem here at the factory, and
have determined it was caused by
the UART chip (16450) which
controls communication with the
touchscreen, etc.
Apparently, the last couple of
batches of this item received from
our supplier contained a higher
than usual percentage of defec-
tive chips.
Also, these chips may work OK
for a period of time and then start
to malfunction, making detection
of the process more difficult in
production.
If you experience a similar prob-
lem that is not cured by replac-
ing this chip, please contact the
service department immediately!
