GOTTLIEB STRIKES N' SPARES
GAME PROM UPDATE
Service Dept.
Premier Technology
Bensenville, Illinois
SUBJECT
There is a new game Prom
(Nlll/3 GPROM) available for
Strikes N' Spares. This update is
not necessary unless a game is
constantly restaging the balls dur-
ing the attract mode (game over)
every few minutes.

SOLUTION
If a particular game does not ex-
hibit this behavior, then there is
no reason to install the N 111/3
GPROM because the game will
work properly. However, if this
situation does occur in a game,
follow the procedure below to
remedy it:
PROBLEM
There is a restaging feature in the
Nlll/2 GPROM which is de-
signed to kick all of the balls into
the rear and then divide them
evenly between the left and right
sides after every 200 plays. When
the Nlll/2 GPROM is installed
the first time, the Ram memory
location which controls the re-
staging feature may not be initial-
ized to the correct value. If this
occurs, then the restaging feature
will begin after every few min-
utes in the attract mode.

PROCEDURE
1. Install Nlll/3 GPROM in
the control board.
2. Tum power on.
3. Enter the test mode by
pressing the test button once.
4. Select bookkeeping from
the menu in the display.
5. Clear bookkeeping by
pressing the left flipper but-
ton and then the credit (start)
button to confirm.

A few units in the field have ex-
perienced coin jams in the auto-
loading coin hopper. After some
troubleshooting, we discovered
three reasons for these jams.

First, The hoppers have an inter-
nal adjustment plate which may
slip if not secured with LocTite.
Repositioning the plate requires
a small adjustment tool which we
are now shipping with all games.
Once the plate is adjusted and
LocTite applied, jams are not a
problem. If you do not have an
adjustment tool, please call our
parts department. They will send
you one immediately.

Second, the new tokens shipped
with each game will wear in dur-
ing the first week of operation.
The tiny shavings produced can
occasionally cause a jam. If this
occurs, remove all the coins from
the hopper and shake them out.
In addition, blow out any debris
remaining in the hopper. All new
tokens are now cycled in the fac-
tory to prevent this problem.
CAusEISoLUI'ION 3
Last, the tokens included with the
game are .984". Locations that
have larger or smaller tokens
have accidentally placed these
coins into the hopper causing the
hopper or the escalator to jam.
To prevent this, do not remove
the hopper cover and advise your
staff of the different coin size.
If you are experiencing any other
problems with Pharaoh's Fantasy
or any of our other games, please
call me at (510) 460-0873.
