SUBJECT
Regarding Ron Schimes article
( S1]: June '9 6) on Rowe laser
jukes (CDM12) suffering more
than their normal share of fail-
ures.
PROBLEM
We have had even a greater than
500/o failure on the CDM12 play-
ers. My personal opinion about
Rowe's exchange policy is that it
leaves something to be desired
(now that was a nice way of put-
ting it!).
CusTOMER SERVICE
Up until last year their exchange
program was one of the best, now
it has gone to trash. They expect
you to shell out $4000+ for a new
box and then have it sit idle until
they get around to fixing your
player-that is a joke. Maybe if
enough folks got together they
would listen to reason.
The company I work for stocks
three CDM12's as spares and
there is always a waiting list to
get one.
Since January we have ex-
changed twoCDM4's, repaired
WMS Industries, which recently
purchased Atari Games Corp.,
will close Atari's California
manufacturing facility this month
and move its assembly operation
to WMS's Chicago headquarters.
Approximately 50 Atari employ-
ees will be affected by the factory
shut-down, but the company's
sales and marketing division will
remain intact, according to Atari
officials.
about 10 to 15 of the CDM3 play-
ers and have had to exchange
75% of the CDM12's that were
sold in the lO0E, lO0F and
MM2's. What's wrong with that
picture?
I could understand all the
CDM3's being in need of clean-
ing and alignment but what about
the CDM12's?
Guess it is time to revamp some
of the older CD boxes and hold
off on buying the new boxes un-
til Rowe gets their exchange
policy together and Phillips gets
the player together.

SEGA
MANX TT DELUXE
IMPROPERLY TORQUED HARDWARE
Darl Davidson
Sega USA
Fremont, California
NOTE
CORRECTION
This bulletin applies to the Manx
TT Deluxe machines only.
Tighten all hardware in the base
of the game; use Figs 1 & 2 as guide.
PROBLEM
INSTRUCTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Some of the games shipped may
have improperly torqued hard-
ware. This will cause the slide
assembly to come loose, and po-
tentially damage the bearings
and motor.
1. Remove the floor panels to
expose the motor area. All front
panels.
CAUSE
Improperly torque hardware be-
coming loose during play due to
vibration.
2. Loosen the {3ea) hex bolts that
secure the brake assembly
bracket to the bike frame. Slide
the brake assembly away from
the rack gear. This frees up the
motorcycle assembly for move-
ment.
Figure 1
NOTES
SPACER 3--PU.CCS
1. TORQUE VAI.UES:
A•14 fl.lbs M6 SOCKET HEAD CAP SCREWS
8s2-4 ft.lbs J,16 Hf.X 80!.TS AND NUTS
3. While the base assembly is
exposed, check all mounting
hardware for proper torque. All
allen head bolts in the base are
to be tightened to 14 ft. lbs., and
the hex hardware is to be tight-
ened to 24 ft. lbs.
Note. Slide rail bearings have 4
all en bolts each. lf any of the 7 6
total are loose, all shoul,d be checked.
The front 8 allen bolts are under
the brake and motor brackets re-
spectively. After the bolts have
been torqued, re-install the mo-
tor bracket making sure that the
key on the motor pinion gear
faces forward -toward the rack
gear (see Fig 3). The brake has
no alignment necessary. Slide
each assembly into the rack gear
to properly adjust back lash.
Torque all hardware.
4. Re-install all the panels, and
test the machine for proper op-
eration. Verify that the move-
ment is smooth, and the game
play is normal.
IMPORTANT NOTE
The hardware must be checked
when the machine is first in-
stalled, after 30 days of operation,
and every 90 days thereafter.
