I SEE IT
Well, it was about 11 years ago
that I started in the amusement
business. Boy, has this business
gone through some changes -
some good, some bad.
THE WAY
One thing I would like to say to
all the new technicians starting in
this field is that, if you want a job
that will keep you up with the
latest technology, I can person-
ally guarantee you this is the field
to be in!
Following the changes has not
always been easy. It was pretty
simple when it was videos, old
vinyl record jukeboxes and pool
tables. Now it's video games that
use disc players along with com-
puter boards, jukeboxes that use
a laser instead of a needle and
some that even show a video
along with the song that is play-
ing. Not many changes with the
pool table though, thank God!
Then there is the new redemp-
tion games that employ every
type of electronics such as opto,
pneumatic, piezo, hydraulics,
and so on.
S'F4' on CD-ROM
My Dad told me to go to college
and take electronics - it's a clean
job. So, I spent four years at Okla-
homa University. I would like to
say something to my Dad, "It's
not so clean."
This is to all the Amusement
Business owners and managers.
The electronics in this field is
changing so fast that is hard for
even the best technician to keep
up with the changes. That is why
it is so important that your techs
keep up with the changes by a
tending all the technical schoo.
that are available. Star Techjour-
nal for one has had some very
good classes. (Star Tech journal is
also paying me big bucks for this
plug.Just kidding, they really do
have good technical classes.)
Every tech tip, game mod, test procedure,
Mfg change, update, upgrade, precaution, etc.

I'm leaving this exciting field
soon, but before I go I would like
to say, thanks to Star Techjournal
and to all those techs who took
the time to share all those tough-
dog fixes that has saved me so
much time.
I know it's not going to be the
same in the next electronic tech
job I take in another field - there
won't be a Star Techjournalto help
me out each month.
Adios, amigos!
