PROBLEM
Displays are dim, but when game
is coined up it starts, then imme-
diately the "Game Over" LED
comes on and ends the game.

The suggested type to use is a
MSL fuse. This fuse consists of a
piece of fibre material wrapped
by a fuse winding. (See figure 1
for fuse pictorial.)
If the buttons are hit with a great
force, the lamps will short out and
cause the same fuses to open up
as well.
1
This unit's displays are seven-seg-
ment, 3-inch tall displays -not the
LED type.
SOLUTION
The first item to check here is the
diodes on the secondary of the
main transformer. See if the di-
odes are shorted, if not check
fuses F2 and F3. These are the
usual items that have failed. Re-
place only with fuses that are rec-
o mm ended: 1 amp slow-blo
type.
The other modification is to re-
move the two diodes and replace
it with a diode pack. An example
would be a back-to-back diode
package used in most switching
power supplies.
Some package outlines can be
TO-3P, TO-3PJ and T0-3PL.
This type can provide the current
needed to supply both the dis-
plays and the +5 volt regulator.
(See figure IA for diode package
drawings.) See figure 2 for game
board location diagram.

FOOTNOTES
I have noticed that the fuses do
get very warm and when MDL
type fuses are used, they melt on
the ends -causing them to open
up.
NOTE 2A
Please note that the diode pack-
age modification may not be rec-
ommended by your distributor,
but can be done at your own risk.
Both fuses are Slow-Bio Types
