MBA transport "Saturday Night
Special" fixes.
After the belts have taken
enough bills to need cleaning 2 or
3 times, it will be time to replace
them. It is extremely difficult to
reassemble an MBA transport,
but go ahead and try; I'm sure
your distributor won't mind get-
ting them in a bag.
PLUGS
The first things I look at on an
MBA are the plugs on both sides
of the transport. These have male
pins that can be bent so that they
enter the wrong female pin in the
cable. If this happens, the results
can be very interesting, to say the
least.

TRANS-
PORT?
There are three types of belts in
this transport:
SLIPPAGE
If your MBA transport is reject-
ing too many bills, you may have
dirty belts allowing the bills to
slip. Concentrating on the gray
belts, apply alcohol sparingly and
wipe them with a rag. This will
remove a lot of green ink and
brown dirt.
EXCITEMENT
It can be more exciting if you turn
on switch # 1 ( on the blue box)
so that the motor is turning the
belts while you clean them.
Be careful your fingers or clean-
ing rag do not get caught in the
moving parts. If you saturate the
gray belts with alcohol, the flat
belts may slip out of place.

The flat belts usually go first. But,
since the track belts fail soon af-
ter, you would do well to change
the track belts at the same time.
If you want the best acceptance,
also clean the shafts and replace
the nylon and rubber parts.
ACCEPTANCE RATE
A thorough refurbishing will re-
sult in an acceptance rate of 90%
or better (even with worn bills).
The replacement belts give goo
service for about 2 years, al-
though less when used heavily.

SOLUTION
The SCRs used in the flipper cir-
cuit are a phase control SCR.
They have a rating of 200 volts
peak and a forward current rat-
ing of approximately 10 amps.
The gate minimum voltage is 1.5
volts and the type package of the
SCR is a TO-220 style.
