ETA
headquarters
in
Greencastle, Indiana has an-
nounced the location for the next
joint convention and seminar:
The Radisson Resort in Vail,
Colorado has been selected. The
dates are July 29th and 30th,
1994.
Among the courses being of-
fered, there is a two-day Elec-
tronics Technology and FCC
Commercial License Prep
School: TV and VCR servicing;
Computers; Optics and Displays
and Basic Electronics with Mod-

A full day will be spent on the
preparation for the Federal Com-

TYRO uplinks.
Topics at this class are of value
to technicians studying for the
CET ( Certified Electronics Tech-

PROBLEM
PROBLEM
SYMPTOM
Tired of finding and repairing
broken wires on the opto boards
time and time again?
Trouble with a Electrohome
GO7-CBO: The beam is at full
strength.
SOLUTION
SYMPTOMS
Try silicone glue to hold the wires
in place. They'll last l00x longer!
Changed transistors X303 and
X304, and all the capacitors that
are normally associated with this
circuit. The blanking pulse is
present.
An MTC9000 33" monitor was
brought in and on power-up, it
would shut down immediately. If
the monitor was turned off and
on in two second intervals, it
would fire up. When completely
turned off, the same result again,
it shuts down immediately.

The only difference between this
chassis and a working chassis is
that the 12v on the base of X303
drops to about 5 volts and in so
doing, cuts X303 off to the point
that it cannot control the beam.
SOLUTION
Check C107. It's the l0mfd @
250vdc capacitor on the neck
board. It causes symptoms simi-
lar to those described above.
SOLUTION
I found C35 to measure only
.89mfd when actually it was sup-
posed to be 22mf d @ 25v. After
this capacitor was changed, the
monitor fired up every time.
NOTE
This same symptom can also be
caused by C34 (22mfd @ 160v)
being off value and R94 burning
open. The reason for the R94 (3.9
ohm) resistor opening is usually
because too much current is
drawn. Check I Cl (TDA 1670) or
C57 shorting out.
