IREM HILL CLIMBER
CLUTCH INSTALLATION
PREVENTS BREAKAGE
Service Department
Summit Amusement
St. Paul, Minnesota
S. Place the 1/2" zinc flat washer, that was origi-
nally with the game, over the fender washer (this
gives added support).
SUBJECT
Originally Hill Climber had a fixed stop that would
break in time with an aggressive player. To stop
the breakage, a leather clutch was added to allow
slippage when the stop was reached.
6. Apply a liberal amount of LocTite 242 onto the
shaft threads.
It is recommended that this update be installed
on all Hill Climbers.
1. With the
steering
wheel off, in-
stall the steer-
ing
wheel
mounting col-
lar key and
collar onto
the shaft.
2. Place the
steering
wheel onto
the collar,
( disregard the
3 hex cap
screws and
the steering
cap mounting
ring).
7. Place a 3/8" nut onto the shaft and tighten se-
curely so that the ball ramps will move as the wheel
is turned.

wheel clock-
wise so as to
hit the stop.
While at the
stop position
the
wheel
should still be
able to be
turned. (Do
not
over
tighten the
nut. This will
defeat the
clutch action.)

8. After the
clutch has
been
ad-
justed. Place a
second 3/8" nut onto the shaft and tighten.
3. Install a 3" leather clutch disc onto the shaft.
4. Place a 1/2" zinc fender washer on top of the
leather clutch disc.
9. Install the steering wheel center cap and secure
using the supplied security TORX screw, (use a
small amount of LocTite on the screw threads).
