PROBLEM
PROBLEM
TEcHTIP
Washed-out picture on K7000
series monitors. Contrast and
brightness controls do not
help.
Beware of wires shorting to-
gether and/or being cut on the
upper right flipper coil stop.
Game will put out one ball
upon start, automatically eject
it onto the field then place an-
other ball into the shooter
lane. After you lose the first
_ ball, you are then able to play
~he ball that was in the shooter
lane.

SYMPTOM
SOLUTION
Ql, Q2, Q3 are bad. Although
they measure good, replace all
three.
SYMPTOMS
The auto shoot function is
turned off. Also there are no
errors showing through the
magnet test. All switches func-
tion in test.
This just happened to me. The
lower right flipper was turn-
ing on by itself.
SOLUTION
On some 13" monitors there
are 3 unmarked 9. lV Zener
diodes above R7, R8 and R9.
These may be open, also.
Re-route the harness and loose
wires away from the coil stop.
SOLUTION
The most likely candidates for
this problem description are
the trough switches. It is pos-
sible the right-most switch is
hanging up on the lift arm that
delivers the ball to the shooter.
This problem does not always
show itself in switch test. Any
~ne of the 3 switches could
Jause this problem.

Silicon Graphics Inc., a power-
ful USA computer graphics
company, and Nintendo Co.
Ltd. of Japan, the leading
video game manufacturer, re-
cently announced plans to
jointly develop a three-dimen-
sional virtual reality game
machine for home use.
Howard Lincoln, senior vice
president of Nintendo. "It will
be real-time, real fast and way
past cool."
Although video game graphics
have improved greatly over
the last decade, they have not
kept pace with computerized
virtual reality. Officials at
Silicon Graphics, whose soft-
ware and work stations were
used by animators for the mov-
ies Jurassic Park and Termi-
nator 2, hope to usher in a new -
era in video game graphics. I"'
The companies new joint ven-
ture "Project Reality" will
meld the latest advancements
in computerized virtual real-
ity graphics with home and
arcade video games.
Nintendo said that the first
product would be a coin-oper-
aLed video arcade game pro-
jecLed for release in 1994. A
home version will be ready for
1995 and priced at less than
$250.
Nintendo will provide the
money and Silicon Graphics
will provide the engineering
expertise. "This product will
leapfrog all other home enter-
tainment devices," said
