SUBJECT
Re: "Flipper Links Stats",
which appeared in the June,
1993 issue of STAR n'ECH
Journal.
CURE
Preventative maintenance is
the key to eradicating flipper
link failures, either when
shopping the game or when
servicing the game on location
for other problems.
For more information read
"Prince'sComer"(Sn'J June,
1993).
CAUTION
In addition, do not use the
metal links, they just cause
wear elsewhere.
Also, if the plunger bottom has
a slight burr -grind it off, oth-
erwise replace the plunger if
it's mushroomed.

PROBLEM
TEcHTIP
Washed-out picture on K7000
series monitors. Contrast and
brightness controls do not
help.
Beware of wires shorting to-
gether and/or being cut on the
upper right flipper coil stop.
Game will put out one ball
upon start, automatically eject
it onto the field then place an-
other ball into the shooter
lane. After you lose the first
_ ball, you are then able to play
~he ball that was in the shooter
lane.

SYMPTOM
SOLUTION
Ql, Q2, Q3 are bad. Although
they measure good, replace all
three.
SYMPTOMS
The auto shoot function is
turned off. Also there are no
errors showing through the
magnet test. All switches func-
tion in test.
This just happened to me. The
lower right flipper was turn-
ing on by itself.
SOLUTION
On some 13" monitors there
are 3 unmarked 9. lV Zener
diodes above R7, R8 and R9.
These may be open, also.
Re-route the harness and loose
wires away from the coil stop.
SOLUTION
The most likely candidates for
this problem description are
the trough switches. It is pos-
sible the right-most switch is
hanging up on the lift arm that
delivers the ball to the shooter.
This problem does not always
show itself in switch test. Any
~ne of the 3 switches could
Jause this problem.
