ATARI WORLD RALLY
WITH
25'' IIANTAREX MONITOR

SUBJECT
Some time ago, I purchased
several Chase HQ video games
with both 25 and 19 inch moni-
tors. I am now noticing about a
40% increase in
total earnings
with the big
monitor.
eamwhatitshould. Youmight
be better off giving your money
to the Red Cross for flood re-
lief. If you are serious about
When doing your
conversions with
a game like
World Rally by
Atari, it really
pays to use a new
25 inch monitor.
Driving games
have a much
longer life than
most other video
games. (Most of
us are still run-
ning Pole Pos i-
t ions from 1980!)
Two factors are of major im-
portance with the monitor.
The first is the size of the moni-
tor. Not all 25" monitors are
the same size!
The difference
is the angle of
the CRT. Most
sets have a lO(k
degree tubl'6"
The
new
Hantarex 25"
Polo has a 110
degree tube
which makes it
about
2"
shorter
in
depth. This can
be very impor-
tant when in-
stalling the
game in a cabi-
net where a 19"
monitor came
out of.

The big problem
with doing a con-
version with World Rally is
choosing the right cabinet. If
you install it in an ten year old

earning money, you need to
have a new 25" big screen
monitor for your game.
The numbers
that are important are 22-5/t'
wide and 16-5/8" deep and 20:
5/8" high. This monitor weighs
almost twice what a 19" moni-

tor does. I do recommend using
metal brackets and/or car-
riage bolts to properly secure
the monitor.
Most games were made with
the front a little less than 24"
because they get the maxi-
mum yield from their wood.
This gives an inch side clear-
ance in the horizontal posi-
tion.
If you make a cardboard tem-
plate of the side view of the
monitor and hold it to the side
of your potential kit cabinet,
you can tell real quick ifit is a
good choice.
POTENTIAL
I haven't received my kit yet,
·~. but good potential cabinets are
Spy Hunter, Pole Position (if
you have a bad PCB), Sega
"Not all 2.S"" tltO"itors are the sat1te size!''
Turbo, Road Blasters (with
bad PCB). I like the idea of
installing them in a sit-down
cabinet. Street Rod seats are
available for about $100.00
from specialty stores or MAS
612/644-6811 in St. Paul. They
add a little more realism to the
game.
I also feel that these new 25"
monitors should be used for all
digitized graphic kits like Mor-
tal, NBA Jam and Gals Panic
II.
The Hantarex Polo monitor
can be purchased direct if your
distributor doesn't handle
them (708/843-7226).
