REQUIREMENTS
All you will need is a switching
power supply with 12V, a
couple oftest leads and a mul-
timeter.
Check Transistor Q3.
Test Q3 (2N2222) with power
off. Place your multimeter on
the diode check mode. With
the red lead on the base, the
,~ollector and emitter should
nave a voltage drop of about
.6V. If not, replace the transis-
tor.
1)
Check Transistor QI & Q2.
These transistors are the
brake and drive transistors.
With no power to the board,
place your multimeter on di-
ode check. With the red lead on
the base and the black lead on
the collector you should have a
voltage drop of about . 7V and
without removing the red lead
from the base and the black
lead on the emitter you should
read about 1.2V.
2)
Note: You should always check
~Ql first. If Ql is bad, it will
_.,make Q2 look shorted.
Check the Optic.
You will need your 12V power
supply, a,nd your two k§.1
leads. Connect one ~ lead to
the 12V on your power supply
and the other end to the red
wire coming out of the ticket
board. Connect the other ~
lead to ground on the power
supply and the other end to the
black wire on the ticket board.
Now with you black meter
lead, attach it to ground on the
power supply. Tum the power
supply on and place your red
meter lead on pin 9 of the IC. It
should read about .2VDC. Now
block the optic and measure
pin 9 again -it should read
about 11 VDC. If this is not
true replace the optic.
4) Check The IC.
With everything still hooked
up, wecanchecktheIC.Pins9,
11 and 13 should have about
0VDC on them. Pins 8, 10 and
12 should have about 11 VDC
on them.
If you block the optic, pins 9, 11
and 13 should have 11 VDC on
them and pins 8, 10 and 12
should have 0VDC on them.
3) Now
If this is not true replace IC.

TRICKS AND PLAY FEATURES

SUB.JECT
Hidden play features can
greatly increase appeal and
longevity on videos so
equipped, presented here are
the secrets of Bubble Bobble.
There are many in this game,
but here are the three most
significant tricks, all of which
must be done from the Bubble
Bobble screen with a rhythm of
about one push every half-sec-
ond.

L,R refer to joystick
J = jump button
B = bubble button
lP= 1 player start
(all done with Player 1
controls)
the bottom left hand of the
screen.
GAME TrucK
This will make the Big Blue
Book appear on levels 20, 30 &
40, and the Big Brown Gate-
way on level 50.
ORIGINAL
These normally appear only if
you have played a perfect
game (never died once).
If you get the book, your next
screen will be the secret Dia-
mond Room -worth big points!
Also each of the three Dia-
mond Rooms contains an en-
crypted message which is a
hint towards properly finish-
ing the game ("Having a TRUE
and HAPPY Ending").
Power Up Trick
This will give you permanent
fast bubbles and speed
throughout your game, even if
you die. The code is L-J-L-lP-
L-B-L-lP.
The message can be decrypted
by copying down both the mes-
sage and the larger block of
symbols. The larger block of
symbols is the alphabet, start-
ing with A,B,C,D ...
When done correctly the game
momentarily will display the
words "POWER UP" in red in
The gateway on level 50 takes
you directly to level 80. The
code is B-J-B-J-B-J-R-lP.
When done correctly the game
momentarily will display the
words "ORIGINAL GAME" in
blue in the bottom left hand of
the screen.
SUPER BUBBLE BOBBLE TRICK
This will make the game start
on the second 100 rounds. The~
second 100 rounds (which
must be played as a separate
game) are basically the lay-
outs of the first 100 rounds,
with the bad guys from the
second 50 rounds on the first
50 rounds, and visa-versa. You
must play these second 100
rounds in order to have a
"TRUE and HAPPY Ending".
The code is lP-J-B-L-R-J-lP-
R. When done correctly, the
game will now display an addi-
tional graphic, which says
"SUPER", on the top left por-
tion of the graphic that is the
"bubble bobble screen". It will
continue to do this every time
this screen comes up in attract ~.
mode until someone inserts a •
coin and plays the game.
