SUBJECT
The operator today always gets a
location complaint that a button
or joystick is not working cor-
rectly. Unfortunately, many
games do not have a switch test.
The ones that do many times re-
quire crawling inside the cabinet
(often in dark dingy bars) to oper-
ate the switch test.
Another problem is that most
likely you don't have the game
manual or even know wherie to
look for the adjustment. This
happens all the time, and not just
when the game is new but when
that game goes into another cabi-
net or sold -things get lost and
forgotten.

Fabtek has made a significant
change with their new game
Heated Barrel. When you get
your kit installed and hold the
right joystick on power-up, you
will find the complete DIP switch
settings and switch test.

For example, if you think that
there may be trouble with mak-
ing the 45 degree shots, hold the
joystick on the 45 degree angle
and verify it. Simple.

PROCEDURE
SONY AND NINTENDO
Sony Corp. and video-game
leader Nintendo Co. Ltd. said
they would make and market a
new video-game system offering
clearer pictures and more lifelike
action.
FCC PusHES FIBER
Fiberoptic delivery of video
games and music, directly to
homes and business across
America, could be a giant step
closer to reality. In mid-Septem-
ber, the Federal Communica-
tions Commission said fiberoptic
cable network firms may connect
to, and compete with, local phone
companies to provide private lo-
cal line service. Experts told the
Wall Street Journal the move is
"as historic as the 1978 ruling to
let MCI and Sprint connect to the
Bell system."
CABLE
Computer giants IBM and Apple
are talking to cable TV giants TCI
and Viacom. The prospect: joint
ventures for interactive enter-
tainment programming & deliv-
ery systems to homes and busi-
nesses.

PROBLEM
DOLLAR COIN
AAMA' s efforts on the dollar coin
issue may be put on the back
burner. VP Robert Fay frankly
admitted that a large number of
congressional supporters may be
voted out of office and that any
concrete action on issues affect-
ing the industry was unlikely
until after the election.
