PROBLEM
On my 2 Addams Family ma-
chines, THING picks up the ball
and bumps it slightly on the :;ide
rail on the way into the box. I had
a motor gearbox fail (under war-
ranty, thank goodness) and I'm
speculating that the stres~; on
the assembly when the ball
bumps the side caused this.

Marc:
The ball brushing over the top
rail of "Things" box is a normal
happening on most Addams pins.
The more likely culprit is that
the clear plastic which is lo-
cated over/behind "Things" box
A
covered in 1989 /'90
comes in contact with the top
of the box during the raising of
the hand. If this contact is ex-
cessive you may actually hear
the motor from the hand slow
as it pushes upward.

CURE
The solution is to move the
plastic as far right/rearward as
it will go or trim about 3/16 to 1/
4 inch off of the front of it.
Also, check that the motor
doesn't bind as the ball is being
picked up (overtravel). There
are 3 screws on the side of the
hand bracket assembly which
when loosened will allow the
hand to be rotated backwards
in its travel arc. After adjust-
ment make sure that the ball
still is being picked up (possible
undertravel).
