Willianis Sticky Flippers Checklist

SUBJECT
LINK NOTE
I've listed a few of the major causes of sticky
flippers. Since this is a frequent service item,
check this list if you are having a problem. This
list can be applied to most manufacturers.
A special note to the users of the metal flipper
links. The early links were not deburred properly
and can cause sticking after a small amount of
use, as the burrs get larger.
STICKY FLIPPER CHECKLIST
LINK NOTE II
Also remember to use the correct spacer bush-
ings for these links or you will have a premature
wear problem in the link or bushing or both.
Consult the manufacturer for the bushings to
use with their link.
0 Bent flipper shaft or bent flipper
pawl.
0 Broken flipper shaft bushing.
0 Broken or missing return
spring.
0 Broken or bent E.O.S. switch.
0 Broken coil sleeve; the end that
keeps coil centered can chip and
break and cause misalignment of
the coil.
0 Incorrect end play; Williams
sells an end play gauge, P /N (03-
8194) for this.
0 Coil slug end can get mush-
roomed where it contacts the coil
stop causing binding in the coil
sleeve.
0 Coil slug and flipper link bind-
ing where they connect together at
roll pin.
O Worn or missing link spacer
bushing or elongated or burred
hole in flipper link.
Correction ...
Last month's issue incorrectly credited
Bally /Midway as the manufacturer of
Whirlwind, winner of Most Ployed Pinball
by the AMOA. Thanks to Roger Sharpe of
Williams, who brought this to our attention,
and apologies to Pat Lawlor, the Williams'
game designer (who, incidently, has
quite a string of hit games going).
