PROBLEM
Whoever designed this coin mechanism should
have his head examined! I'll bet anyone who's
put one of these out on the route has had prob-
lems with the coin mechanism, (i.e. trip wire,)
inside the coin box.
PROBLEM
How many of you are pleased with the fact that
when you turn this game on, it comes up show-
ing the dip switch settings and their interpreta-
tions!
SOLUTION
I just came back from location, and I tell you
they're nothing but a pain in the neck. The
biggest problem is that you have to look through
two little holes in the access door to see which
way you have to bend the extension on the coin
mech to get it to go in between two pieces, metal
and wood.
CAUSE
We've put out 3 in the last 3 months and they've
all had this same problem. What must have
happened here is that it was initially set right,
but the route collector must have set the unit on
the floor, thereby moving the extension a little
bit.
I can't imagine a company this big doing such a
crappy job on this part of the machine. Sure it
can be worked out, but what a extra pain in the
neck.
Not only did our 3 all have this problem, but I
know of a bar owner out of town who bought one
and had the very same problem! Four out of four
looks like they're batting 100 percent.
I, for one, would not like to see kids turning the
game off and on to see if the game is set harder
than at another location, or gives fewer free men!
SOLUTION
A quick solution is to switch the player two start
wire from the normally open (NO) terminal to the
normally closed (NC) terminal on the 2P start
button. This way, the game immediately exits
the dipswitch settings screen upon power-up
but does not prevent lP games or the "continue"
function.

PROBLEM
I have had several different Tomcats that would
tilt out inexplicably. I changed all the flipper coil
diodes, CPUs and resistor packs all to no avail.
CAUSE
Then, I discovered the left flipper lane change
switch was factory wired so that the diode was
not in the circuit! If both bottom flippers were
up, and the left sling shot was hit - instant tilt.
SOLUTION
I checked over one dozen of my Tomcats and
three were wired wrong! Simply move the wire to
the other side of this diode and instant cure!
