Elvira: A New Bally Pin
With Willianis' Reliability

WHAT'S WHAT
Elvira's electronic system (as all future Bally
pinballs will be) is the Williams system. As
far as the mechanicals go, it has Williams
flippers, slingshots, eject holes and ball
poppers. It has a new Bally thumper-
bumper, and a few new devices designed
especially for this game.
The software system is also Williams, so you
will get the redundancy and reliability you
are used to from the Williams games. We're
very proud of this great new Bally Pin.
TEAMWORK
Elvira and the Party Monsters was the result
of a combined design effort. Dennis Nord-
man started with an idea to use the "Boogie
Man" in a Halloween type theme. Then one
scary night Greg Freres came to Dennis with
the idea of doing a sequel to Party Animal
Called "Party Monster" so they hooked up
the generator and gave life to Party Monster.
In an effort to make this game all that it could
be, we landed the rights to "Elvira" thus
giving birth to Elvira and the Party Monsters.
The design team was then filled out with
Tony Pugh on mechanics and Mark Penacho
on software. Jim Patla later joined the team
to help coordinate the design effort when
Dennis hurt himself in a motorcycle acci-
dent.
HEAD TO TOE
This Bally team wanted to prove that Bally
was back and they didn't pull any punches.
They gathered up their resources and
choose the best from the Bally and Williams'
worlds:
The brain for this monster was carefully
transplanted from Williams to keep its
memory true and reliable. For the heart,
they selected the Williams electronic system
which gave life to Elvira's light and sound
show. The body was carved out of shapely
plywood to make sure it would last. Its
nimble fingers modeled from Williams' flip-
pers with the addition of the Bally bat to aid
the player's aim with their shot indicators.
THE BOTTOM LINE
It is now time to face reality. Inflation is here
to stay. Change is difficult but change we
must, if we want to be able to give players a
quality product. Baily's creative pricing on
Elvira is leading the way to higher profits.
With its structured pricing scheme, the
decision is not a scary one.
