SUBJECT
PROBLEM
This battery pack was used on models 4 77
through 483 at least, and is more trouble
than it is worth.
Customers are playing this game and getting
too good. Excellent problem in my eyes.
PROBLEM
The game has difficulty settings 1-8 with 4
being the recommended setting. Game time
went to over four minutes, so I made it more
difficult by moving the game to setting 5.
SOLUTION
It is supposed to hold selection memory
during power-off or overnight, but it is al-
most certainly responsible for heaps ofinter-
mittent and recurring problems.
NOTES
SYMPTOM
We had a 4 77 on which the electronic pop
meter was crazy- every record showed up as
having been played 999 times, even when
you reset it to zero. Throwing away the
complete black box (located under the tone
arm and turntable) cured the problem to-
tally.
SOLUTION
Taking it out of circuit (or preferably out of
the machine altogether!) does mean that you
no longer have a selection memory in a
power off situation; that could be a problem
in power fail situations, but is a benefit in
overnight switch-off sites.
The game manual doesn't list what setting is
liberal and which is conservative. Jot this~
into your manual: One is Liberal and Eight iS
Conservative. Congratulations to Leland on
an excellent game!

SUBJECT
Clearing the Back-Up Ram.
NOTE
It might also be that that battery pack was
responsible for lots of intermittent problems
such as not cancelling off at the end of a
record, logic "freeze-up," trying to play a
record in the "home" position, etc.
000
PROCEDURE
Tum the power to the game off. With both the
1 player and 2 player start buttons de-
pressed, turn the power back on.
