To all of you that are about to be frustrated
putting an Arch Rivals kit together. Here are
a few tips to make things go a little easier.
PROBLEM
Eylers Vending
Frederick, Maryland
Having installed several of the Capcom
Bowling kits, I must say I was pretty disap-
pointed with the performance of the Happ
Controls trackball. Just about every other
one malfunctioned in some way - erratic or
non-operation.
CAUSE
Initially I thought the bearings were at fault,
but after taking a good look I found the real
culprit was not the bearings but the hous-
ing. The sides of the housing in some units
pressed against the bearings causing th('
rollers to bind.
SOLUTION

All in all a great game, but the manual is very
specific except where you need it to be.
To correct this problem, I first removed the
rollers from the housing and removed the
bearings and all hardware. Then I put the
roller in the chuck of a drill press and
clamped a fine flatfile to the table. The file
was positioned so that the small part of the
roller would just clear the file and come to
rest on the end of the wider part of the roller.
Then I turned on the drill press and filed off
a millimeter or so from the roller -being
careful not to score the smaller shaft (this
allows the bearing to seat in further).
RESULTS
When the bearings and hardware were re-
placed and reassembled the rollers spun
much better and operation was greatly .
improved. A drop of light oil in the bearingi'
helped even more.
