CONDITION
PROCEDURE
Reports from various game locations have
shown that you can increase the life span of
the switch on the gear shift assembly in Final
Lap by turning the gear shift assembly
around 180 degrees. This improves the
wiping action of the microswitch, and
thereby reduces the corrosion buildup on
the metal contacts.
To tum the gear shift around, first remove its
harness wires. Unscrew the gear shift from
the control panel. Re-install the gear shift
180 degrees to its former orientation, mak-
ing sure the "Low" label on the cover plate is
still at the top. Then reconnect the harness
wires so that the wire formerly attached to
the normally open tab is now on the nor-
mally closed tab.

PROBLEM
PROBLEM
Intermitent loss of sound and credit.
Space Shuttle drop targets would come up
slightly and then drop back down. The coil
would attempt to push drop targets up 3 or
4 times, then stop.
-
SOLUTION
Remove entire target assembly from game
and disassemble completely. Thoroughly
clean everything. Check bracket to make
sure it isn't bent and also check target
guides, springs and make sure target back-
up blade isn't bent badly. Spray silicone
spray on target guides and reassemble.
I have also seen this problem in other Wil-
liams games (pre-optical drop targets) and
would recommend this solution as well.

SUBJECT
Coin return plunger assembly on Drew's
Card Games.

Fabtek Dead Angle
Loss Of Credit
PROBLEM/SOLUTION
If you are having problems losing the
plunger assembly on Drew's card games,
then when you are reinstalling the new
assembly, apply a small amount of Locktight
onto the threads before installation.
SOLUTION
Some of the mounting hardware may be
spreading the two boards apart, just far
enough to make for a loose connection at
connector CN-3 (located at position A,20).
To correct for this problem, sqeeze this
connector together and make the appropri-
ate changes to the mounting hardware to
keep the boards from spreading apart again.

PROBLEM
Monitor picture tube phosphor bums on
games such as Pole Position, pokers etc ...
that have clear plexi or glass fronts.
SOLUTION
I have found a quick, easy and inexpensive
way to reduce the sight of phosphor bums
and improve the picture quality. Apply auto-
mobile window tint film onto the glass. It's
easy to install and available at any auto
parts store or K-Mart. The film comes in grey
or bronze tint for about 5 bucks a roll. Sure
beats a new picture tube!
